Mystery Cruise – 28th September 1996

    MYSTERY CRUISE

McCrorie’s Mystery Meanderings
This was a coach and cruise outing which started off with participants being issued with a piece of paper on which we were to predict where we were going and what vessels we would sail on!

My thanks to David Robertson for the following detailed update

The mystery tour on 28th September 1996 was as follows:
0920 Gourock Dunoon on JUPITER.
Coach to Loch Awe and a sail on LADY ROWENA
Then to Oban for a charter of COLL to Kerrera (time ashore) then sail south down Sound of Kerrera turning off Kerrera ferry to return to Oban.
Then 1400/1500 Craignure on ISLE OF MULL with lunch in forward cafeteria.
Then back on the coach for Oban to Colintraive, LOCH RIDDON to Rhubodach then Rothesay.
1815 PIONEER ex Rothesay.
Original plan was with high tea onboard to go to Wemyss Bay then Largs where she berthed overnight on Saturdays in that year.
Bus was to meet party and head back to Gourock.  However due to adverse weather, she diverted to Gourock during which high tea was served. Arrived back at Gourock approximately 1930.  It was a very rough crossing! I remember it well as Neil Guthrie (now Cruise Coordinator) and I as teenagers helped serve fish and chips on the way to Gourock that night!
