This was a day of contrasts – setting off from Greenock in what could be called idyllic conditions, we enjoyed a good days cruising until near our arrival at Millport, by which time it had become very overcast and dull.  Leaving Waverley at Millport, where there was a short time ashore, I took the bus and ferry back to Largs where my car was and headed up the Haylie Brae for what I thought would be an unusual shot at Fairlie Pier.  The heavens opened and I was drenched by the time I got to a vantage point to see the pier.  It was difficult to see Waverley at all.  Fortunately the rain cleared as she was leaving Fairlie pier but I had a very uncomfortable car journey back to Glasgow.
