March 2012 Meeting – 80 Not Out: A brief history of the Clyde River Steamer Club

The March meeting saw two long term stalwarts of the Club, Honorary President and Past President Robin Boyd and Past President Iain Quinn combine their efforts to give a brief history of the Club over its first 80 years. They focused primarily on the founding members and characters of the club in its early years and then rounded off with a selection of slides taken of, and from, some of the noteable charters in the hey-days of Club Charters. A very well integrated presentation, with Robin being able to recount sailings and experiences from when he joined the Club in 1945 and Iain presenting an excellent series of slides from their joint collections, and other club sources.
