Come Cruising On King George V

King George V at Iona in the 1960s: a classic Eric Schofield portrait that sums up the pleasures of cruising on the much loved MacBrayne turbine

CRSC invites ship enthusiasts of all persuasions to attend a Zoom meeting on the evening of Wednesday 13 January 2021, at which Eric Schofield will present a selection of magnificent colour images of the MacBrayne turbine steamer King George V.

To join this Zoom video presentation, you will need to download the Zoom app and use the ID No. 815 7239 6501 and Password No. 997185. Access will be available from 7pm for a 7.30pm start. The meeting will remain open to allow for informal chat until not later than 9.30pm.

This is the first time CRSC has thrown open a talk to an audience brought together by the wonders of Zoom video conferencing. When the Club first used the technology for its AGM in November, the medium proved to be a huge success, bringing together members from as far afield as Switzerland and Solihull.

We want Eric Schofield’s KGV presentation to be enjoyed by as many as possible, including non-members. Allow him, through the medium of his 1960s and early 1970s colour slides, to rekindle your memories of the ‘King George’, while younger enthusiasts are sure to get a flavour of this unique and hugely popular vessel from the sequence of onboard shots, scenic panoramas around Mull and portrait photos of the ship.

If you have not yet familiarised yourself with Zoom video conferencing, please look it up online and download the app. If you are still encountering difficulty, let us know at info@crsc.org.uk

Communicating by Zoom is proving an excellent way of promoting CRSC’s presence on the internet. Once you get the hang of it, it is easy to operate: you will find it allows access not just to Eric Schofield’s KGV cruise presentation, but to other enthusiasts at a time when meeting up and sailing together is well-nigh impossible.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 13 January!
