First meeting of CRSC’s 2017-18 winter session

11Oct2017

The speaker at the first meeting of CRSC’s 2017-18 winter session is Colin Tucker, a widely recognised authority on Hebridean shipping. His illustrated talk is titled ‘A Decade of Change - MacBraynes in the 1960s’. All are welcome and from 6.15pm a range of club photographs, postcards, publications and DVDs are available for purchase.

From 7.30pm until 9.15pm

At Jurys Inn

Jamaica Street, Glasgow

Colin Tucker is well qualified to talk about MacBraynes in the 1960s: during student holidays in the latter half of the decade, he worked on the 1964 car ferry Hebrides on the Uig triangle and on the Stornoway mail boat Loch Seaforth. A much admired writer and speaker on Scottish shipping, he brings a lifetimes perspective to his subject, and his illustrated talk is sure to stir memories and arouse interest in what is now recognised as a fascinating era of Hebridean shipping history. Entry is free and non-members are welcome: please arrive early to socialise in the ante-room on the first floor of Jurys Inn.
