Front cover of the 2017 Calendar

CRSC’s 2017 Calendar — by general consent our best yet — is now available: order it here. An ideal Christmas present!

The Calendar showcases a wonderful variety of vessels: MV Argyle (January), the 1947 Loch Seaforth leaving Mallaig (February), Queen Mary II (March), a stunning aerial shot of Finlaggan in the Sound of Islay (April), the paddle steamers Mercury of 1892 and Jupiter of 1937 (May), two portraits of 70th anniversary steamer Waverley (June), the car ferries Glen Sannox and Cowal (July), Isle of Arran and Hebridean Isles (August), the 1892 Glen Sannox (September), Ali Cat and Argyll Flyer (October), Coruisk passing Isle of Mull (November) and Isle of Lewis (December).

Another ‘must’ is our latest DVD of up-to-date ferry scenes and archive footage, compiled by Stuart Craig. Club members get a £2 discount on this. This year’s edition includes the 1933 turbine Queen Mary’s acclaimed return to the Clyde in May (plus archive material from her 1970s cruising days), Catriona on trials at Largs, and ‘Waverley meets Isle of Arran at Campbeltown’. There is also Isle of Lewis at Oban, and Waverley at Armadale.

On Saturday 14 January 2017 we will have our popular New Year excursion to Arran on Hebridean Isles, with a bus tour of the south of the island and lunch at the 2015 ‘Scottish Hotel of the Year’ Auchrannie Resort. This is the first time ‘Heb Isles’ will have served as relief ship on the Ardrossan-Brodick run. Don’t miss it. Everyone is welcome on this special excursion, traditionally one of the most convivial occasions in the Club calendar. Book now to avoid disappointment.

SCENES FROM THE 2017 CALENDAR

Below you will find two of the many splendid images featured in our Calendar — Coruisk and Isle of Mull pictured by Gordon Law off Kerrera in the summer of 2016, and an Eric Schofield portrait of the 1947 Loch Seaforth leaving Mallaig in 1970 as Clansman approaches.
