Sir Walter Scott Charter – Saturday 13 September 2025

Passing Factor’s Island, Sir Walter Scott approaches Stronachlachar

The Clyde River Steamer Club has organised a special charter of Sir Walter Scott to mark the steamer’s 125th anniversary sailing on beautiful Loch Katrine. The cruise will cover as much of the loch as possible.

This classic steamship has been modernised in recent years and offers comfortable facilities for a cruise on the loch. Our cruise will take us right round Ellen’s Isle before steaming to Stronachlachar for time ashore, offering photographic opportunities as the ship berths, unusually, starboard side to. We will then proceed up into the western end of the loch to view its more rarely seen areas.

As Trossachs Pier can be difficult to access by public transport, the Club has arranged a coach from George Square in Glasgow.

Full catering facilities are available ashore at Trossachs Pier before the cruise and the coach timings will allow ample opportunity to have something to eat before the cruise.

The coach departs Glasgow at 12.30 and Sir Walter Scott will sail from Trossachs Pier at 16.00 for the cruise, which will last around three hours.

For those preferring to make their own way, there is ample car parking available at Trossachs Pier.

Bookings for this special cruising opportunity can be made here. For those  making their own way to Trossachs Pier, tickets will cost £27 for the cruise alone, while passengers wishing to make use of the coach connection from Glasgow, the cost is £47. No tickets will be issued but a check will be made of those booked on the day. A commemorative anniversary booklet by Iain Quinn and Colin J Smith has been published, detailing the history of Sir Walter Scott, and copies can be obtained on board priced £7.50.

The Club Committee hopes that this charter will be well supported by members, their families and friends.

Passengers will be carried subject to the Conditions of Carriage of Steamship Sir Walter Scott Limited. This cruise may be subject to alteration, dependant on weather and other circumstances.
