Eric Schofield’s ‘All tickets please’ — the full series

Since January 2018, CRSC veteran Eric Schofield has delighted readers of this website with recollections of the sailings he has made over the past half century — a treasury of memories inspired by the tickets he bought and the photographs he took.
Few enthusiasts can claim to have preserved their sailing records so assiduously or to have built such a rich variety of sea-going experiences on Scotland’s west coast and beyond.
In its own way ‘All tickets please’ has been every bit as epic as the most ambitious of Eric’s excursions, whether he was landing at some out-of-the-way ferry point in the Hebrides or exchanging ships at any number of piers on a packed day’s sailing on the Clyde.
We are extremely grateful to Eric for allowing us to accompany him on his travels and giving us such vivid pictures — mental and photographic — of the sort of sailings that were once commonplace but can now be undertaken only in the mind’s eye. Even with the limited variety of routes available to us today, we can be confident Eric will make the most resourceful use of them. Let’s hope he will continue to bring them to life on these pages.
